A GPTT delegation attended on Think Tank annual conference (OTT Conference 2024) in Barcelona, Spain, on May 22 and 23, as the most important global gathering of think tank leaders. This year’s conference was themed “Think tanks and their communities” with the participation of more than 200 think tank leaders worldwide. The theme was to discuss to what extent think tanks have been moved beyond their elite circles towards their local communities and have played the role of social facilitators and collaborators, particularly in the implementation of public policies. OTT Conference 2024 also created an opportunity for Regional think tank meetings, where GPTT attended a MENA group meeting exchanging experiences and shared challenges and concerns with other think tanks from the region. The conference also discussed other relevant issues including think tanks and several upcoming elections throughout 2024 as the year of elections, think tanks and AI, think tanks and the decline of democracy, and think tanks and captured states.
