“Goodwill Government”: How Do Iranians View the Raisi Administration? A Recent National Poll Shows

In mid-March 2024, a national survey was conducted to measure the level of people’s trust in the Raisi administration jointly by GPTT and the Center for Iran Behavioral Insights, supported by the Iranian Presidency’s Center for Strategic Studies (CSS). Mohammad Hassan Ebrahim Kani, a GPTT guest researcher discussed the results in a note published on ISNA national news website on May 25. The most prominent positive aspect of the administration in the eyes of the Iranians is that they believe in the government’s awareness of their living conditions. More than two-thirds of the respondents have stated that the government is well aware of the economic situation of poor families and they believe that it touches their pain and deprivation. One of the bases of this perception of the integrity of the administration is the idea that there is coordination among the government’s different parts, so they do not disagree with each other for reasons such as doubt, fear, or lack of determination, and they do not constantly change their decisions. The main feature that is praised by the people is the “goodwill” of the government towards them, and people believe that even if the government is not performing effectively and the country is struggling with challenges and problems, however, their conditions and especially the situation are known by the administration. This can be a valuable capital that can be used to carry out reforms by the next government when groups of people are distrustful of the government and governance.
