In a roundtable concerning Israel’s disastrous war on Gaza hosted by Al Jazeera Arabic on August 4, Stephen Heintz, president emeritus of the Corporate Council of Africa (CCA), Mohammad Halsa, a researcher and expert on Israeli studies, and Seyed Emamian, GPTT co-founder shared their thoughts on latest developments in West Asia region, especially following the assassination of Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31. According to Dr. Emamian, in recent months, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has acted as an uncontrollable “irrational” actor whose behavior can only be interpreted based on “personal interests” and not even the national interests of the Zionist regime. Nevertheless, the aggressive behavior of the regime has caused a “revision” in the calculation system of Iranian officials in Tehran, so that now they seem ready to accept the risks of a possible unwanted “regional war” to achieve a “long-term peace.” He observed that there is a rare “political consensus” in Tehran on the necessity of a “powerful response” to the Zionist regime for the assassination of Haniyeh. Emamian suggested that Netanyahu and his supporters in the American “military-security complex” and its deep state should be considered responsible for a possible “regional escalation” of the Gaza war and they will pay for it.
