On October 23, 2024, a delegation from the GPTT made an official visit to the Faculty of Global Studies at Lomonosov Moscow State University, one of Russia’s oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education. The visit marked a significant step in strengthening academic collaboration between the two institutions.

Representatives from Moscow State University (MSU) included Ilyin Ilya Vyacheslavovich, Dean of the Faculty of Global Studies at Moscow State University; Ruslan Grebnev, Deputy Dean for International Cooperation; and Alekseenko Oleg Aleksandrovich, Deputy Dean for Scientific Work. Representing the delegation from Iran were Morteza Zamanian, Board Member of GPTT and founder of the Polytechnic Institute of Policy and Economic Studies (PIPES), and Majid Afshani, Head of the GPTT’s International Department.

The meeting opened with Ivan Ilyin sharing insights into the university’s history and their connections with Iranian academic institutions. Dr. Majid Afshani, Head of the International Department the GPTT, presented ideas for expanding cooperation between the two institutions, including exchanges, collaborative research, and joint academic events. Dr. Zamanian discussed strategies for enhancing research collaboration between MSU and Iranian institutions, noting the GPTT’s potential in building academic connections within Iran. Moreover, Dr. Ilyin invited GPTT’s delegation to join MSU’s annual summit.

The two teams exchanged a preliminary draft of a memorandum of understanding for joint research and academic events. The memorandum is expected to be finalized in near future.
