On September 17, 2024, a specialized panel titled “The Policy Advisory System in Iran: Issues and Capacities” was held, offering key recommendations for Article 94 of the Seventh Development Plan of the Islamic Republic. The event featured discussions on the challenges and potential of Iran’s policy advisory system.

A focused panel included prominent experts such as Dr. Babak Negahdari, Head of the Parliamentary Research Center and faculty member at the University of Tehran; Dr. Mohammad Sadegh Emamian, co-founder of the Sharif Institute for Governance and faculty at Amirkabir University of Technology; Dr. Kiumars Eshtaryan, public policy professor at the University of Tehran and former secretary of the government’s Social Commission; Dr. Mostafa Zamaniyan, head of the Presidential Center for Strategic Studies under the 13th administration; and Dr. Mehdi Abdolhamid, head of the Governance Office at the Parliamentary Research Center and faculty member at Iran University of Science and Technology.

The event provided in-depth presentations on the country’s policy advisory framework, examining its limitations and opportunities for improvement. Key recommendations were presented for amending Article 94, aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and integration of policy advice in governmental decision-making.

The discussions emphasized the importance of aligning advisory processes with the evolving needs of the country, to foster collaboration between academic institutions and government bodies to promote informed and strategic governance.
