Applying “political competency indicators” is necessary for bringing trust and hope to the Iranian society: GPTT senior researcher

In a note published in the Farhikhtegan national newspaper on July 21, Hadiseh Rabiee, the director of the GPTT Center of Political and Parliamentary Studies discussed the necessity of developing a “political competency indicator” for Iranian politicians. According to her, neither a comprehensive definition nor certain indicators have been developed to measure the competence of political managers. On the eve of the formation of the new administration, there is a “historic opportunity” for it to establish a new model of the competence of political managers. The “competency model of political managers” is the result of two years of focused research at GPTT under the supervision of the Presidential Center for Strategic Studies (CSS). This model presents seven key indicators by examining competency models in different political systems across the world, resources specific to the Islamic Republic of Iran, and interviews with politicians of different Iranian administrations, political activists, and experts. Individual requirements, specific value/legal/financial/security requirements, communication/media skills, international network and connections, political/organizational knowledge and skills, general management knowledge and ability, and specialized skills and mastery. She emphasized that establishing competency indicators for political managers is more than just an initiative: it is a vital necessity to restore trust and hope to the Iranian society.
