Roosta-Azad Award to motivate think tankers, says member of the scientific committee

In an interview with the Roosta-Azad Technology and Governance Award’s secretariat at GPTT on July 29, Majid Dehbidipoor, a member of the Award’s scientific committee discussed how it can be helpful for the think tank and academic community. According to him, all thinkers and policymakers are eligible as nominees for the Roosta-Azad Technology and Governance Award, however, those who provide solutions to the country’s problems deserve more to be awarded. He pointed out that the award can affect Iranian policymaking in several ways. First, it causes the quantitative and qualitative improvement of ideas. The award per se causes the quantitative improvement of ideas, and because of the competition their quality also improves. Second, there would be an increase in the number of thinkers, since the award can create motivation among think tankers and ultimately increase the number of them in the policymaking field. The third effect is related to government. It should pay attention to think tankers and benefit from their ideas. Dehbidipoor stated that Iran needs plans, ideas, and policies to overcome the current problems and difficulties. Establishing awards such as the Roosta-Azad Award can send the message that policymaking issues are just as important as executive issues. In fact, the importance of politics and policymaking in governance should be made clear to all.
