Policy divergence between Islamic states toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

GPTT’s 16th International Governance Talk (IGT) was held online on November 22 on the subject of “Regional order after 7th of October,” in collaboration with Imam Sadiq University’s Institution for Economic Diplomacy Studies. Dr. Jabbar Shojaee, a political science professor at Imam Sadiq University pointed out the lack of shared identity between the Islamic states, which, however, to some extent has revived in the aftermath of October 7 and manifested by massive public demonstrations that took place in support of Palestine. This development put Arab governments under the pressure of public opinion, not to pursue the process of normalization with Israel. Dr. Amr Eldiib, head of RANEPA’s Middle Eastern affairs also emphasized the policy divergence between Islamic states toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and stated that resolving the conflict would be rather difficult without a “unified” Islamic approach. This was the first IGT with Arabic-speaking discussants and GPTT hopes to host more IGTs in Arabic in the future.
